MarCon AB is a company within MarCon AB working with technical mission services in the form of acoustic mapping, hydrographic surveys, dam safety, status assessments and port- and bridgeinspections. To our help we have several certified divers, trained technicians, and a mobile workstation with all sorts of technical equipment. Among our customers are power companies, port managers, municipalities and emergency services etc.
Technical developments in underwater acoustics has developed significantly in recent years. Everything from the smallest objects to the wrecks can now be located and mapped with high resolution. During the acoustic imaging, we use the latest equipment on the market equipped with a transmitter and receiver of sound impulses. Acoustic imaging has many applications: imaging of underwater structures, pipe and cable surveys, identification of erosion damage, bridge inspections and applications where spatial data and image clarity are the key parameters.
Acoustic imaging is a complementary measure to the dive profile studies. It is a very competitive material combining spatial data with pictures to thereby effectively identify and analyze structures under water.
Acoustic imaging is a good way to get a good picture of the overview images where structures under water are visible. Nevertheless, it is a good method to get a deeper picture that can be the basis for further investigations. It is also a good way to locate and analyze round or curved objects, which can be difficult to detect by other methods. With acoustic imaging has also been able to gain access to difficult places where divers have trouble getting. It may be a question of jetties or piers.
